Art Foundations

Students enrolled in Art Foundations are guided to transform their personal expression toward developing technique. Moving beyond the basics, projects will explore and build upon creativity and self-expression. Instructors will introduce concepts of problem-solving, critical thinking, and conceptual development. Contemporary and traditional topics in art will be incorporated into project lessons in the following areas:

  • Observational drawing through still life and life drawing
  • Abstract design using line, shape, value, color, and texture
  • 3D sculpture techniques and design including line, texture, balance, symmetry, and shape
  • Relief printmaking techniques
